Fabulous lego site! Inspired by great literature, and film among other things, these tiny scenes are very amusing! All vignettes should be on a tiny base to encourage creativity, usually 8×8. Might have a go at some later…

Okay, so this is a loose interpretation of the scene, but as I had made mini-figs for the other characters I had to use them!

We went down to MrBen’s folks at the weekend and came back with a small cache of very exciting bricks, including space, police, motorway maintenance, soldiers, duplo etc etc. I have also been spending more time on Bricklink -it is a truly amazing site run my amazing people! I was a bit distressed when the postie decided to BEND my brand new blue baseplate to get it through the letterbox! Emergency resuscitation has pretty much got it back to 180 degrees, but there is a white mark left and the beginnings of a crack. Annoyed!

Things I have really enjoyed recently include:

Cloud Atlas, a novel by David Mitchell. Left me reeling slightly and I’m sure there’s bits I missed. I need to go back and absorb some more. Written with dazzle, confidence and flair, it’s a clever weaving of six different stories across continents and eras. See www.reviewsofbooks.com/cloud_atlas/

Fearless, a CD by Yvonne Lyon. We were on the same course at uni. Not even had it a week but it has impressed me so much with the subtle colours and textures. Beautiful. Soothing. Love it. www.yvonnelyonmusic.com

The film of Memoirs of a Geisha. I know its been criticised as shallow, but I disagree - I think its a cultural thing. So on Friday at our girl’s group we made paper. And of course it was pink!

You rip up 10 old sheets of A4 and add one or two A4 sheets of tissue paper of your desired colour. Soak them overnight and pulverize in small amounts in a blender. Add to a vat of water and scoop your frame down to the bottom and lift gently.

Transfer mesh onto folded towel and place drying board on top. Then put a tray on top of this and stand on it for ten seconds. Leave your paper to dry overnight!
